Eddie Van Halen - The Master Of Rock Guitar Arpeggios And Scales Soloing
To be able to have guitar lessons software that teaches you a guitar education in music theory, fretboard theory, chord, scale, and arpeggio patterns, and more so you can play the guitar like Eddie Van Halen would be exciting and fun. The more you learn the truth about many great rock players for example, you will find that they have put a tremendous amount of dedicated effort into general music study and instrument specific study and practice. They didn't just pick up the guitar and become what they are today with no understanding of anything. It sounds good but is not real.
Did you know that many of your favorite guitar players, such as Eddie Van Halen actually have a real music education and did not just pick up the guitar and play it without any clue about the study of music. Music education is found in most if not all of your favorite players in all genres including rock music. Contemplate this for a moment, Edward Van Halen's father, Jan Van Halen was a guitarist and accomplished musician. A strong indicator of his family's interest in music is also shown in the fact that his middle name was derived from composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Did you know that Eddie played and studied piano for many years under a very serious and disciplined piano teacher before he ever picked up a guitar.
The piano most likely helped him at some level comprehend and better implement his fingering tapping style simply because it more mimics the natural way that a piano player plays. This of course is not the only reason for his skill and innovation in his playing and successful implementation of his tapping style, but it would be a little naive to assume it had no influence or helpful edge at some level. Also, aside from how he well he can apply scales on the fretboard for example, what do you think is required for his unique chord progressions and soloing compositions. His song writing is more than just being able to wail on the fretboard.
His piano education also help give him the understanding of the concepts of musical knowledge such has putting chord progressions together, changing keys, creating chords, using various scale tones when soloing. This is a whole area of study that a musician of any type, including the guitar player, needs to know in order to be able to fully be expressive on the instrument. This knowledge also removes limitation from ones playing and is rewarding in that it opens the guitar player up to greater playing potential.
